PURPOSE:
Our Lady of Mercy Parish will be having their annual “Mercy Fest” on  October 10 - 13, 2013.  They have requested a Music Festival Permit for three days, Friday, October 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12 from noon to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 13 from noon to 6:00 p.m.
 
BACKGROUND:
This is approximately the eighth time that Our Lady of Mercy Parish has applied for a Music Festival Permit.
 
DISCUSSION:
Our office will be working with the Police Department and Fire Prevention to ensure that necessary staffing is covered and safety issues are addressed.  The music is played in a tent so the sound is better contained.  We are not aware of any past complaints filed at this event.
 
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Fire Prevention will be contacted and police officers from the Aurora Police Department will be hired for the event.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is my recommendation that this item be referred to the Government Operations Committee for their meeting on September 10, 2013.  This will ensure review and passage by the City Council prior to the event.
