A Traffic Study for Elder Drive at Foxcroft Circle regarding the installation of a YIELD sign on the Elder Drive approach. Ward 5, Alderman Peters
body
PURPOSE:
To consider installation of STOP/YIELD signage for the Intersection of Elder Drive and Foxcroft Circle.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted an ACR Case ID 85324 expressing concern about traffic flow at the intersection of Elder Drive and Foxcroft Circle. This is a non-typical "T" intersection in that Foxcroft Circle has a 90-degree curve from the East turning to the South, with termination of Elder Drive making up the South bound arm. Presently, traffic on Foxcroft Circle completes the curve without stopping. Elder Drive is a private road while Foxcroft Circle is public.
DISCUSSION:
This non-typical "T" intersection has no STOP or YIELD signage. The resident maintains that traffic has a difficult time ascertaining who has the right of way.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operation will be required to install STOP sign .
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of a STOP sign for south bound Elder Drive, complete with Stop Bar as weather permits.
