PURPOSE:
Color Vibe is asking for approval of its application to hold a family fun 5K in downtown Aurora.
BACKGROUND:
Color Vibe held the event in 2013 using parts of River Street and the trails along the Fox River. The route was not able to sustain the 5,000 plus participants. The event switched to the City dedicated route in 2014 and went smoother. Participants ran through four different color stations along the route that had volunteers waving color onto them that is a starch based powder form.
DISCUSSION:
Color Vibe is responsible for all costs associated with holding this event, including clean-up of color from City streets and/or sidewalks. The run will start at 7:30am and clear the intersection of New York Street and Broadway Avenue by 8:25am. After run activities are planned at River Edge Park until 11:00am.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services are needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division, Streets Maintenance Division for barricades or recommendation to use Road Safe, and Downtown Services direct approval is needed for any extra parking considerations/arrangements in City lots.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
