FROM: Wendy McCambridge, City Clerk
DATE: December 4, 2017
SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.
PURPOSE:
To maintain the number of Class G - Package Beer and Wine licenses at 15.
BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.
DISCUSSION:
Welcome Food and Beer Inc dba Angelina's Food and Beer located at 2218 Ogden Ave., Aurora, IL 60506 has submitted a liquor license application for a Class G license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine in original packages only, for consumption off the premises. The location currently has a Class C liquor license at this location and is changing ownership and moving to a Class G.
Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would maintain the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the December 12, 2017 meeting of the Government Operations Committee for consideration.
