TO: Mayor Richard C. Irvin

FROM: Derrick Winston, Asst. Superintendent, Fleet & Facilities Maintenance

DATE: June 15, 2020

SUBJECT:
Police Vehicle Replacement

PURPOSE:
To ensure that the Aurora Police Department has adequate equipment to perform their duties.

BACKGROUND:
Unit 36-419 is a 2017 Ford Utility Police Interceptor which was vandalized during the demonstrations of June 2020. The vehicle was inspected by local auto body repair companies and determined to be a total loss.

DISCUSSION:
The City of Aurora participates in the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) for the purchase of replacement and additional vehicles. This program bids vehicles for purchase allowing the City to satisfy our own bidding process with less effort and using a greater purchasing power to get lower prices.

Currie Motors, located at 10125 W. Laraway Rd., Frankfort, IL 60423 is the approved Ford Police Interceptor Utility dealer under SPC contract #152. Due to the use of the cooperative purchasing program, local preference does not apply.

The City's Property Claims Acccount, 601-0000-410.40-76, has available funds to satisfy the purchase of this vehicle.

Currie Motors has no outstanding debt with the City.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
N/A

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts a resolution to purchase a replacement police utility interceptor.
