SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Hermitage Drive and W Illinois Avenue to investigate the appropriateness of installing STOP signage. Ward 5; Alderman Peters
body
PURPOSE:
To evaluate the warrants for installing STOP signage at the intersection of Hermitage and W Illinois Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 83813 expressing concern about the lack of STOP signage at the intersection of Hermitage and W. Illinois Avenue.
DISCUSSION:
The intersection is shaped like a "T". The North-South street is Hermitage Drive. The intersection is currently uncontrolled fom all directions, not having STOP or YIELD signson any approach. Traffic counts were recently done on adjacent intersection for all way control studies. The traffic volume on Hermitage would not warrant an all way stop and therefore would not be recommended. However, staff does recommend a Stop sign installation for the South-bound approach of Hermitage Drive approaching W. Illinois Avenue.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This installation will require funding for the Sign Department.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing a STOP sign on the South-bound Hermitage Drive at the intersection of W. Illinois Avenue weather permitting.
