PURPOSE:
The Petitioner Egret Enterpises, Inc. is requesting approval of a Final Plan for Lot 3 of Meijer Subdivision located at 708 N. State Route 59 being along Drexel Avenue, west of State Route 59, east of Station Boulevard and south of Liberty Street, for a Special Purpose Recreational Institutions (5200) use which includes the development of a badminton training center.

BACKGROUND:
The Subject Property is currently vacant land with B-B(S) Business-Boulevard zoning, which is part of the Meijer Special Use Planned Development. Additional information on the legislative history of the property can be found in the attached Property Information Sheet.

The Petitioner is requesting approval of a Final Plan for Lot 3 of Meijer Subdivision for a Special Purpose Recreational Institutions (5200) use. The details of the request include construction of a 22,500 square foot building, which includes approximately 19,800 square feet dedicated to twelve badminton courts and 3,600 square feet of office space. The courts will be designed to meet national certification standards to allow the center to host national level tournaments. The facility is designed to allow for multiple uses, including basketball, volleyball, and other indoor athletic activities.
