TO: Mayor John Laesch
FROM: Christopher Linville, Superintendent of Fleet Operations
DATE: May, 25 2025
SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the purchase of eight replacement Mohawk 18,000lb. capacity wireless mobile column lifts from Mohawk Lifts LLC for $119,032.10.
PURPOSE:
To ensure that the Fleet Maintenance Division has adequate equipment to perform their duties.
BACKGROUND:
The Fleet Maintenance Division utilizes mobile column lifts for heavy duty equipment when conventional drive on lifts are unavailable or unable to be used. The Division's current mobile column lifts are over twenty years old, limited in terms of efficiency, and not user friendly. These new mobile lifts are wireless and operate on battery power. This allows the lifts to be deployed anywhere in the Fleet Maintenance garage and even outside if needed, as they would not be tethered to a power outlet while being operated. Wireless mobile lifts will also allow the technicians to complete their work without having to navigate around cords.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Aurora participates in the Sourcewell Cooperative Program for the purchases of replacement equipment. This program provides government pricing for purchases allowing the city to satisfy our own bidding process with less effort and using greater purchasing power to get lower prices.
Mohawk Lifts LLC, located in Amsterdam, NY, has been awarded Sourcewell contract # 121223-MRL for vehicle lifts and garage associated equipment.
The proposed mobile column lifts are part of an approved 2025 decision package.
Funding to satisfy the cost of $119,032.10 will be drawn from Account 120-4431-418.63-99.
Mohawk Lifts LLC has no outstanding debt with the city.
