SUBJECT:
Requesting the approval to purchase a new Ford F-450 dump truck for the Street Maintenance Division in the amount of $55,624.00 from Currie Motors.

PURPOSE:
To provide the Street Maintenance Division a dependable 1-ton dump truck.

BACKGROUND:
In January 2018, the purchase of a new Water Treatment vehicle was approved on Resolution R18-014 through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative Program. On February 20, 2018 PO 288259 was assigned to Currie Motors to purchase a 16,000 GVRW Ford dump truck in the amount of $56,124.00. The 16,000 GVRW was specified on the PO and Ford Customer Proposal. The cab and chassis was delivered to Monroe Equipment in Joliet for the dump body installation sometime in August. This unit was delivered to Aurora on September 28 and up fitted by Equipment Services with radio, decals and other minor accessories. When deliver to Water Treatment it was discovered that the truck's GVRW was 16,500 which puts this truck in a different driver's license classification. Since most Water Treatment employees do not have this classification of license this truck is useless for this Division.

Currie Motors did agree that it was their mistake and will take the truck back and reorder the correct cab & chassis. However this is a well-built truck that could be placed in service immediately for the Street Maintenance and it would eliminate the 2019 approved replacement of truck 48-312. In addition Currie Motors will provide $500.00 credit on this Ford F-450 16,500 GVRW dump truck and another $500.00 credit to the Ford F-450 16,000 GVRW dump truck that was just ordered.

This would eliminate the 2019 truck replacement request for Street Maintenance of $48,500.00 plus provide a superior 4 wheel drive truck for snow removal on the City's alley route. This will save time when plowing since unit 48-312 is a 2-wheel drive truck that can ge...
