SUBJECT:
An intergovernmental agreement with the Community Unit School District 308 to locate an Outdoor Warning Siren on their property.

PURPOSE:
This agreement will allow the City of Aurora to use the Community Unit School District 308 property for an outdoor warning siren. The location of the siren will improve the warning coverage area for residents and businesses in the surrounding area.

BACKGROUND:
This project was started in 2013 and was stalled until 2015. A budget carryover was approved in 2015 to complete the project in 2016.

DISCUSSION:
The location of the siren was chosen based on the lack of siren coverage for the surrounding area and will improve outdoor warning notification for the surrounding residents and businesses. This siren has a life span of over twenty years. Funds are available in the Cap A account # 340-3038-429-4505. The approved purchase order for this project identified a cost of $39,250.00. The only recurring cost to this project will be adding this siren to the existing maintenance contract for the other sirens the city operates.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This project will improve Outdoor Siren Warning coverage in this area.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be adopted.
