PURPOSE:
To restore the Benton Street bridge railings and spindles.
BACKGROUND:
Some of the Benton Street bridge railings and spindles have lifted due to water infiltration into the spindle dowel holes. Due to the freeze thaw cycles some railings and grouted spindles have loosened and/or been displaced from the original position.
DISCUSSION:
Three companies attended the pre-bid meeting on August 20th. Only two of the three companies submitted proposals. R. A. Ubert Construction submitted the low responsible bid of $34,850.00.
In account 215-4430-418.38-99 there is $50,000 reserved to fund this project.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
A section of the Benton Street sidewalk will be closed during the resetting and grouting of the bridge railings.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Finance Council consents to accept the low bid from R. A. Ubert Construction to restore the Benton Street bridge railings in the amount of $34,850.00.
