Requesting approval to stage the City of Aurora Farmers Markets to be held throughout the summer and fall of 2018.

PURPOSE:
The markets allow citizens convenient access to affordable local farm fresh produce and the opportunity to get to know area farmers and artisans.
BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Farmers Market is in its 106th year of continuous operation.
DISCUSSION:
Expenditures for the market are appropriated in the Special Events budget, account number 101-1341-450.53-09.
The downtown Saturday market will be held at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway, June 9 through October 20 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm with a preview day on May 19 in conjunction with the Aurora Gardeners' Plant Sale.
The west market will be held at 2131 W. Galena Blvd, Wednesdays, July 11 through September 26 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance from the following departments/divisions is requested: APD, Fire Prevention, Downtown Maintenance, Electrical, MVPS, Public Information, Water & Sewer and Community Services. A detailed listing of services is attached.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
