A Parking Study for Wild Cherry Court at Fox Drive.  Ward 5, Alderman Franco.

body

PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for Wild Cherry Court at Fox Drive to determine the need for installing parking signage.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 137526 expressing concern about too many cars parking on the street.

DISCUSSION:

Neither Wild Cherry Court nor Fox Drive has any parking signage.  The intersection is uncontrolled with no STOP or YIELD signage.  Both are residential roadways with 25 mph speed limit.  Both have asphalt in good condition with curb and gutter, and sidewalks on both sides.  Fox Drive is the standard 29.5-ft in width, while Wild Cherry Court is only 25-ft.   Wild Cherry Court ends in a "T" intersection with Fox Drive.  One side of Wild Cherry Court at the intersection at Fox Drive has two wide drive approaches almost side by side, which should prevent vehicles from parking in front of them.  The other side is curb and green parkway.

Staff has not been able to observe the parking issue presented by the resident.  Nonetheless, there should be no parking in the areas as brought by the resident.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Operations will be required to install recommended signage.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends installation of No Parking Here to Corner on Wild Cherry Court approach to Fox Drive.
