SUBJECT:
Ordinance Providing for the Termination of Special Service Area #27 in the City of Aurora Established Pursuant to Ordinance No. O93-101 on December 7, 1993.
PURPOSE:
To terminate Special Service Area #27 in accordance with the terms of the establishing Ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
Per Ordinance No. O93-101 passed on December 7, 1993, SSA #27 was established as an active SSA to provide special municipal improvements, including, without limitation, maintenance, repair and replacement of certain entry monuments and landscaped areas. The Ordinance provided that it would levy taxes indefinitely to pay for the costs of these improvements. The improvements are paid for and the SSA is no longer required.
DISCUSSION:
Since improvements that were to be funded through the SSA are paid for this SSA can be terminated
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Failure to terminate could result in improper taxes being assessed on 2016 tax bills, payable in 2017.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Place on Finance Committee Calendar (January 10, 2017 Agenda) for approval to City Council.
