SUBJECT:
A resolution awarding 2016 City Wide Traffic Calming Program to the low bidder Geneva Construction Company.
PURPOSE:
To award the 2016 City Wide Traffic Calming Program to the low bidder, Geneva Construction Co.
BACKGROUND:
The City has received various requests from the residents in the form of ACR's to mitigate speeds and promote safety at the following roads: Deerpath Road, Village Green Drive at Richland Lane and near Clifton Court, Oakhurst at Park and near Anton Drive, Commerce Street at Bradbury Circle. The City staff has conducted traffic study pertaining to these streets and has come up with feasible traffic calming solutions for each of the above streets in question. Each of the segments have qualified for traffic calming thru the City Traffic Calming Policy.
DISCUSSION:
Different Traffic Calming measures have been incorporated throughout the City to provide safety for both vehicle traffic and other road users. For each of the above streets different traffic calming measures are suggested based on the applicability and effectiveness of these measures for those streets. A traffic circle has been proposed to be built on Commerce Drive intersecting Bradbury Circle and medians varying in length and width has been proposed on rest of the streets.
Three bids were received and the bid tabs are provided for reference. The low bidder was Geneva Construction Co. at $101,638.50.
The following funds will be utilized:
Ward 8 funds 318 4460 431 38 55 $ 50,000.00
Ward 5 funds 315 4460 431 38 55 $ 40,000.00
Ward 10 funds TBD $ 20,000.00
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impacts anticipated.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval of award of the low bid to Geneva Construction Co.
