Communities in Schools is requesting City services to assist in staging the annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
To provide free health services and school supplies to Aurora students in need.
BACKGROUND:
CIS has held this event at the First Presbyterian Church Harkness Center for the past 22 years. Approximately 200 staff/volunteers manage the event which draws participation form more than 30 social service agencies. The fair provides school supplies to approximately 900 families, including immunizations, school physicals and dental screenings. Parents are provided information on additional social services available to them.
DISCUSSION:
CIS is working directly with APD Officers to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic issues. Street closure requested on 4th between Benton and Downer.
A COI has been provided.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
APD to assist from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Street Department-barricades and Stop signs at the corner of 4th and Benton and 4th and Downer for street closure to be delivered August 10 and picked up on the 13th.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
