Title: A Resolution to purchase 15 new Ford Police Interceptors from the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative.
cover
TO: Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM: Joseph Hopp, Superintendent of Maintenance Services

DATE: December 30, 2014

SUBJECT:
To purchase 15 new Ford Police Interceptors from the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative.

PURPOSE:
To maintain the Police fleet by replacing 15 vehicle that have met the replacement criteria for a Police Interceptor

BACKGROUND:
The City of Aurora participates in the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative ("SPC") for the purchase of new Ford Police Interceptors. The SPC purchasing program bids vehicles for purchase thus we can forego the bidding process.

DISCUSSION:
I am requesting the authority to purchase 13 new Ford Police Utility Interceptors and 2 new Ford Police Sedan Interceptors in the amount not to exceed $425,000.00. The funds have been reserved in account 340-3536-421-6602 for this purchase.

The 13 Ford Police Utility Interceptors will be assigned to the Police marked patrol fleet and the 2 Ford Police Sedan Interceptors will be assigned to Special Operation Group.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of 15 new Police Interceptors will reduce the maintenance and repair cost for the Police. All of the 15 units that will be replaced meet the replacement criteria which is 6.5 years for a Police Interceptor

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts a resolution authorizing the purchase of 15 new Police Interceptor vehicles in the amount not to exceed $425,000.00 from the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative.
