Request to close Palace from California to Colorado for the "10 on 10th" on June 10, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm sponsored by Cease Fire.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of "10 on the 10th" is to bring awareness to gun violence and promote a safe summer.
BACKGROUND:
"10 on the 10th" came about after the organizers brother was shot and killed in the area seven years ago. Since then they have held a vigil every year to commemorate the tragedy. In past years a parking lot was used, to accommodate a larger crowd and to assure public safely street closure is being requested.
DISCUSSION:
There are no direct City costs associated with this event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance for the following City departments is requested: Streets for barricades and an FYI to APD so they are aware of the event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be approved and forwarded to the Government Operations Committee.
