PURPOSE:
The Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon/ShebBix Inc. is requesting permission to run down the west side of the river trail in Aurora to the North River Street parking lot, across from Vine Street, and turn around and go back up the west side of the river trail for their marathon.  The event is designed to promote area fitness, local businesses and charities, and the Fox Valley area in general.

BACKGROUND:
This is the 5th year for this proposed event. Approximately 1,900 people participated in 2013 and the organizers are expecting to attract the same amount of participants in 2014 and utilize 25 staff/volunteers.  The route starts/ends in St. Charles, IL and takes place on the trail path through the towns of Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora and turning around in Aurora.

DISCUSSION:
The marathon organizers are responsible for all cost associated with holding this event.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The event organizers are requesting Aurora Police Department Traffic Division Officers to be located at Illinois Avenue to temporarily close the street for marathon participants to cross over and back.  The organizers are requesting use of the North River Street parking lot, across from Vine Street, as a turnaround spot, first aid station, and location for water.
