SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study in the 900 block of Serendipity Drive for the installation of a Handicap Parking Space. Ward 3, Alderman Mesiacos
body
PURPOSE:
To investigate installation of a handicap parking space at 957 Serendipity Drive.
BACKGROUND:
A resident just moved into 957 Serendipity Drive has submitted ACR Case ID 142974 expressing concern for the need of a Handicap Parking Space near their new residence. There is no handicap ramp in the area requested.
DISCUSSION:
Parking is scarce in this subdivision. Parking is allowed only on the east side of Serendipity Drive near the proposed residence. In addition to street parking, the residence has a two-car garage attached in the rear alley. Entrance and exit to a vehicle may be easier when made from inside the two-car garage rather than the street.
The request does not meet the criteria for reserving handicap parking a public street. The residence has private parking available by way of garage access and there is no impedance to the use of garage access. Committee has previously denied multiple request for Handicap Parking designation in the Hometown subdivision.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on staff recommendation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
