SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study to Consider Parking Restrictions on N. May Street south of Illinois Avenue near Wilbert Walters Park. - Ward 6, Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
Parking study to review possible parking restrictions on N. May Street south of W. Illinois Avenue and in the area by Wilbert Walters Park.
BACKGROUND:
A request was sent in by way of email expressing concern about traffic congestion on N. May Street due to vehicles parking for the Wilbert Walters Park.
DISCUSSION:
There is NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage and YELLOW CURB stretching south on both sides of May from W. Illinois Avenue more than 70 feet. The width of N. May Street follows the city standard for residential streets of 29.5 feet. Given the limited parking options in and around the park site and the available roadway width, staff does not support parking restrictions.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Based on staff recommendations no impact.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
