A Traffic Study of the Bangs Street and 7th Avenue intersection. Ward 3, Alderman Mesiacos.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study of the Bangs Street and 7th Avenue intersection to determine optimum STOP signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 122656 requesting the 2-way STOP signage at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Bangs Street be changed to a 4-way STOP.
DISCUSSION:
The two STOP signs are on 7th Avenue approaching Bangs Street. A Fire hydrant is located on the south-west corner. Marked crosswalks in all directions. Crash reports show only two accidents within three years, one was caused by icy roadway. There is no restrictions on parking at the intersection. Traffic volumes and crash history do not support an all way stop.
NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage is recommended on Bangs Street to improve intersection visibility.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be responsible to install signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER signage on Bangs Street, on all four corners.
