A resolution authorizing the acceptance of Anthem Excavation & Demolition, Inc. as the contractor to demolish 630 Hammond Av Aurora, IL 60506.
PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval for the specific contractor to complete the demolition of the property located at 630 Hammond Av Aurora IL 60506.
BACKGROUND:
The structure located at 630 Hammond Av Aurora, IL 60506 is currently vacant, in a state of disrepair and a blight to the neighborhood.
DISCUSSION:
A formal bid request was published for the demolition of this 2 stories wood frame structure. Response was received from 1 contractor, Anthem Excavation & Demolition. The bid amount is $64,000. Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) funding will be used for up to $40,000 toward this demolition.
The City's local preference ordinance did apply to this bid, however did not impact the decision since the Anthem Excavation and Demolition is a registered local vendor.
Funding for the services not covered by Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) will be account 101-1827-424.36-25. The account has enough funds to cover the demolition.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The resolution must be approved to demolish this building that is a blight to the neighborhood.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
This request is for Anthem Excavation & Demolition to be accepted as the demolition contractor for 630 Hammond Av Aurora, IL 60506
