body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the Cumberland Road and Ridge Avenue intersection, east-most intersection, requesting an all-way stop and speed bumps.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted PS # 3090448 expressing concern for motorist disregard for stop signs, bus stop sign and speed limit signage.
DISCUSSION:
Ridge Avenue is classified as a Minor Collector, but has a 25 mph speed limit. Cumberland Road is classified as a Residential roadway. The west-most intersection of Cumberland and Ridge is controlled by all-way Stop signage.
Traffic counters on Cumberland Road revealed an ADT of 980 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 27 mph. Ridge Avenue has an ADT of 1,400 VPD. Speeds on Ridge Avenue average 26 mph.
Based on existing traffic volumes, speed data and crash history, the intersection and roadway segments do not qualify for additional stop signs and speed bumps.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
APD resources for enforcement.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends APD selective enforcement for motorist not complying with existing traffic control, speed limit.
