FROM: Alisia Lewis, Director of Human Resources

DATE: July 20, 2017

SUBJECT:
An Ordinance Repealing Section 33-8 of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances

PURPOSE:
To obtain authorization to repeal Section 33-8 "Police Cadet Program" of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances.

BACKGROUND:
Section 33-8 "Police Cadet Program" of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances describes the Police Cadet Program.

DISCUSSION:
As a result of discussions with the Police Department, it is our joint position that the Police Cadet Program is more appropriately handled administratively rather than by a permanent city code provision. This will allow for more flexibility in updating the program as needed. The program description is not policy and there are no other similar program descriptions in the City of Aurora Code of Ordinance

IMPACT STATEMENT:
N/A.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council give authorization to repeal Section 33-8 "Police Cadet Program" of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances.

Kristen Ziman, Chief of Police
Keefe Jackson, Deputy Chief of Police
