SUBJECT:
A resolution appointing six members to the "Aging-in-Community Advisory Board" (AICB).

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this item is to make an initial round of appointments to the AICB, leaving three spaces open for local organizations and/or residents of the AIC community.

BACKGROUND:
The City Council approved the creation of the Aging-in-Community Advisory Board in March of 2024. The board was created in tandem with Aurora's participation in the Metropolitan Mayor's Caucus' "Aging in a Changing Region" program. The findings of this program were outlined in an Aging in a Changing Region Guide, which was presented to the City Council in April of 2024; and included the recommendation that the city create a board.

DISCUSSION:
The creation of the board and calls for applications were made in both March and April of 2024 through the Council Committee process. Additional advertisements were done over the course of the next six months; staff scheduled interviews for interested applicants in October of 2024. Attached to this item is a list of the advertisements/posts/presentations where calls for members were made. The candidates are primarily representatives of agencies that serve Aurora residents, the goal is to build out the resident engagement side with the remaining three seats.

The candidates are listed below:
* Jennifer Brasfield, NR; Executive Director of Riverwalk Adult Day Services in Naperville which serves Aurora residents.
* Esmeralda Tellner, NR; retired Aurora Police Department Elderly Resource Officer
* Alex Haughee, NR; Executive Director of Plum Landing
* Reena Cherian, Ward 10; geriatric physical therapist for over 20 years
* Glenda Love, NR; works for Age Guide which serves Kane, DuPage, Kendall and Will County resid...
