PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study to measure traffic speed and volume on Felten Road between Orchid Street and Reckinger Road.  
 
BACKGROUND:
An E-mail from Alderman Bohman requested a Traffic Survey be done on Felten Road between Orchid Street and Reckinger Road to measure vehicle Speeds and Volumes.  A Weekday Study revealed an ADT of 3,800 vehicles per day (vpd).  The Average Speed was 31 mph, with an 85th percentile of 35 mph.
 
The roadway should be a 30 MPH road but is inadequately posted.
 
DISCUSSION:
A Weekday Study revealed an ADT of 3,800 vehicles per day (vpd).  The Average Speed was 31 mph, with an 85th percentile of 35 mph.  This roadway is a route for the Pace Bus System.
 
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Traffic study approved.  
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of 30 MPH signs at Reckinger for NB and Orchid for SB with 20 MPH advisory speeds added to curve ahead signs.
