SUBJECT:
A resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing to enter into an agreement with McGinty Bros., Inc. for Native Plantings Landscaping Maintenance in the amount of $88,036.00.

PURPOSE:
To re-establish and maintain specific Native Plantings areas around the City by awarding a Landscaping Maintenance contract to McGinty Bros., Inc., 3744 Cuba Road, Long Grove, IL, 60047 in the amount of $88,036.00.

BACKGROUND:
There are various native plantings areas around the City which require recurring controlled burns, mowing, herbicide application, and supplemental seeding outside of the scope of routine landscaping and existing contracts.

The City published a Request for Bids to obtain costs from qualified landscape maintenance contractors. The scope of services requested in the RFB was based on site specific recommendations provided by the contractor which most recently provided these services. Due to a company restructuring, this contractor no longer provides these services and did not submit a bid in response to this RFB.

DISCUSSION:
Bids for the Native Plantings Landscaping Maintenance were received from three contractors (see attached bid tabulation). The apparent low bidder McGinty Bros., Inc., 3744 Cuba Road, Long Grove, IL, 60047 in the amount of $88,036.00. This contract will be funded using account 280-1852-512.81-90 (CIP B049).

The contract is to be for one year with the option of two 1-year extensions, upon mutual agreement with the City and McGinty Bros.

Local preference does apply, however there was not a local vendor who submitted within 5%, per the ordinance.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The re-establishment and maintenance requested in this bid will serve to beautify the designated areas throughout the City by eliminating weeds, keeping grasses properly mowed, and encouraging the growth of native flowers, plants, and grasses.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
