Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of 844 North Highland Avenue, Aurora, Illinois City Real Estate - Permanent Index No(s): 15-16-401-001 and 15-16-401-002 to Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, Inc. NFP f/k/a Marie Wilkinson Foundation

PURPOSE:
Attached is an Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of 844 North Highland Avenue, Aurora, Illinois PIN No(s): 15-16-401-001 and 15-16-401-002 to the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, Inc., NFP f/k/a Marie Wilkinson Foundation who owns the property adjacent to 844 North Highland Avenue, said property being located at 838 North Highland Avenue, Aurora, Illinois.

BACKGROUND:
In June of this year, the City of Aurora acquired the property at 844 North Highland Avenue, Aurora, Illinois, through a Judge's Deed through legal action initiated by the City of Aurora. Alderman Saville was approached by the Food Pantry on their possible acquisition of this property. After discussions with the Food Pantry, Alderman Saville is desirous of transferring this property to the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, Inc. to be consolidated with their current property located at 838 North Highland Avenue, Aurora, Illinois. Their current plans for the property will include demolition of existing structures on the property and installation of a parking surface in order to accommodate critical parking which is needed in the area. The property is exempt from real estate taxes. The lot to be transferred is legally described as follows:

LOTS 1 AND 2 IN BLOCK 6 IN BAKER-MORTON ADDITION TO AURORA,
IN THE CITY OF AURORA, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS

DISCUSSION:
The City has made this type of arrangement before with adjacent owners in order to dispose of City-owned lots.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Adequate parking will be made available for the Food Pantry's Community Facility to promote health and wellness at their administrative offices.
