FROM: Blanca Dominguez, Asst. Corp. Counsel
DATE: December 2, 2014
SUBJECT:
Requesting adoption of ordinance terminating Special Service Area #25 previously established pursuant to O93-98 on November 16, 1993.
PURPOSE:
To Terminate SSA #25 in accordance with terms of the Establishing Ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
Per Ordinance No. O93-98, passed on November 16, 1993, SSA #25 was established as an active SSA to pay for costs associated with special municipal improvements in the covered area. The Ordinance provided that taxes would be levied for a period of twenty (20) years. To date, the improvements have been paid for and SSA #25 is no longer required.
DISCUSSION:
The purpose for establishing SSA #25 has been met, and therefore, since no further funding is possible under terms of Ordinance, it should be terminated.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The termination of SSA #25 will not adversely affect the City.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that this item be placed on the Finance Committee Agenda set to take place on December 9, 2014 for approval of City Council.
