SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the Gabrielle Lane and N. Commerce Street intersection. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study to determine the possibility of installing STOP signage at the intersection of Gabrielle Lane and Commerce Street.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 101984 requesting stop signage be installed at the intersection of Gabrielle Lane and Commerce Street to reduce traffic speeds.
DISCUSSION:
STOP signage is not to be used to control speeds, according to specific regulations in the MUTCD (Municipal Uniform Code of Traffic Control Devices) issued as adopted by the City of Aurora. With that said, existing conditions do not warrant an all way stop based on volumes, pedestrians, or crash history.
However based on the traffic study, the roadway does meet the minimum qualifications for traffic calming. The Alderman will need to work with the HOA to determine the desire to move forward with investigating traffic calming and/or type of appropriate calming application
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommended acceptance of traffic study.
