SUBJECT:
A resolution consenting to the assignment of an aviation operator agreement at the Aurora Municipal Airport between the City of Aurora and Eclipse Aerospace, Inc.

PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval of an assignment of an aviation operator agreement between the City of Aurora and Eclipse Aerospace, Inc.

BACKGROUND:
Eclipse Aerospace, Inc. is an original equipment manufacturer of twin-engine light jet aircraft headquartered in Albuquerque, NM and primarily serves the owner/operator, corporate and aircraft charter market.

Eclipse Aerospace, Inc. has been operating its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK), formerly known as Palwaukee Municipal Airport for over 9 years and has expressed interest in moving their MRO operations to Aurora.

Airport staff worked with Eclipse Aerospace, Inc.'s general manager to find available hangar space on airport property that would accommodate their current and future needs. Ultimately, Eclipse worked out an agreement with Suburban Properties to rent hangar space from them located on the airport's east ramp.

Eclipse Aerospace Inc., would like to transfer their operations to Aurora by May 14 of this year.

DISCUSSION:
The proposed operating agreement is consistent with the most current operating contract approved by City Council. After review of Eclipse Aerospace Inc.'s operation at Chicago Executive airport it was determined that their annual minimum payment for the privilege of operating at the Aurora Municipal Airport would be $15,000.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The approval of this operating agreement will have no adverse impact on the City of Aurora or any businesses currently operating at the Aurora Municipal Airport and will generate significant revenue to the City
