SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing to enter into an agreement with L3Harris of Melbourne, FL to purchase new radio computer consoles for $457,821.48.

PURPOSE:
This resolution is requesting to purchase new computer consoles at the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) at the Aurora Police Department and the Backup PSAP at Fire Station 8.

BACKGROUND:
The radio consoles at both the PSAP and Backup PSAP are operated by Telecom Operators to dispatch City Public Safety personnel and facilitate communication with other agencies throughout the Northern Illinois region.

These consoles are currently running on Microsoft Windows, but they are not compatible with Windows 11, necessitating their replacement.

DISCUSSION:
These computers play a vital role in facilitating communication between PSAP Telecom Operations and Public Safety personnel, serving as the primary means of communication. Ensuring their continued operation is essential for the safety of the City's residents.

L3Harris personnel will configure the consoles to ensure seamless integration with the City's current radio system, as well as with the new P25 radio system set to launch in 2026. L3Harris will also provide warranty and ongoing support for these consoles throughout their lifespan.

The purchase will be made using existing ETSB funds, with a budget amendment to be submitted for account # 211-1280-419.38-05.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Ensuring comprehensive city-wide coverage for Public Safety communications is essential for the safety and well-being of the City's residents.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Request the proposed resolution be approved.
