SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Sullivan Road and Randall Road intersection.  Ward 5 and 6, Aldermen Peters and Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
To measure and document existing traffic volumes and speeds at all four approaches of the Sullivan Road and Randall Road intersection.

BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 98763 to Alderman Saville expressing concerns over the efficiency of traffic flow at the intersection of Sullivan Road and Randall Road.

DISCUSSION:
A recent Traffic Study looking at traffic volumes and speeds at the intersection approaches resulted in a redesign of the intersection signal timings. The two-lane intersection is saturated with traffic volume, especially during the peak hours.  Average Sullivan Road Speeds ranged from 39 mph eastbound to 32 mph westbound, with mode speeds of 35 and 30 mph respectively.  Sullivan's 85th percentile speeds were 45 eastbound and 39 westbound.  Average Randall Road Speeds were 43 southbound and 37 southbound, with mode speeds of both 30 mph. Randall's 85th percentile speeds were 49 mph southbound and 43 mph northbound.  ADT for Sullivan was about 14,000 vpd on Randall, and about 9,100 vpd for Sullivan.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact other than accepting the Traffic Study.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of Traffic Study.
