KJ Multisport is requesting permission to use Barnes Road from West Galena Blvd to Prairie St. for the 2 mile run part and Hankes Rd. for the bike part of its Duathalon scheduled from 7:00am-10:00am, Saturday, August 23, 2014.

PURPOSE:
The event organizer describes the purpose of the event as raising funds to benefit the Fox Valley Park District low income programs.
BACKGROUND:
This is the second year that the event is being proposed to be held. Last year, the bike route included parts of West Galena Blvd, which is a highly traveled major transportation artery. It was suggested by the Aurora Police not to propose using West Galena Blvd again for bike part of this event and the organizer worked out a different route for the bike part of the duathalon.
DISCUSSION:
The organizer is responsible for all costs associated with this holding this event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The event organizer is requesting services from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Division for safety involving the run part of the duathalon at the corner of West Galena Blvd. and Barnes Rd. Kane County Sheriffs Deputies, volunteers, and Fox Valley Park District staff will help with the bike part of the duathalon.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Forward to the Government Operations Committee for review/approval.
