A Parking Study for the N. Highland Avenue and Michigan Avenue intersection. Ward 6, Alderman Saville.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for the N. Highland Avenue and Michigan Avenue intersection to determine the need for installing parking restrictions.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 2246929 requesting No Parking Here To Corner signage on Michigan Avenue at the N. Highland Avenue intersection.
DISCUSSION:
The N. Highland Avenue and Michigan Avenue intersection has no marked or signed parking restrictions. The drive approach for 987 N. Highland Avenue is located on the south side Michigan Avenue. The distance between that drive approach and N. Highland Avenue is insufficient for a car to park properly, but just large enough for one to squeeze in. Any vehicle parking in this small space is not only too close to the corner, but also too close to the drive approach. The north side of the Michigan Avenue approach has a fire hydrant.
No parking here to corner signage should reinforce existing City ordinance.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing No Parking Here To Corner parking restrictions.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing No Parking Here To Corner on Michigan Avenue approach to N. Highland Avenue.
