Title: A Traffic Study for the 400 Block of Oak Avenue. Ward 6, Alderman Saville
Sponsors: Public Works

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the 400 Block of Oak Avenue.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
To Investigate Speeds and Volume in the 400 block of Oak Avenue.

BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted an E-mail to Alderman Saville ACR Case ID expressing concern for traffic speeds on the 400 block of Oak Avenue.

DISCUSSION:
The northbound average speed for all classified vehicles was 24 mph, with a mode speed of 20 mph and an 85th percentile of 32 mph.  Southbound speeds were 15 mph average speed, with the 85th percentile speed of 25 mph.  Vehicles parked in the western side of Oak Avenue most likely account for the lower southbound speeds.

The average daily traffic for Oak Avenue was just over 400 veh/day.

While the northbound 85th percentile is of note, the roadway does not qualify for traffic calming based on traffic volume.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No action is recommended at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends committee accept traffic study
