A resolution reappointing John Duggan to the Aurora Police Pension Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Police Pension Board is a five (5) member board. Two of the members are elected by active members and one member is elected by the beneficiaries. The remaining two members are appointed by the Mayor. Currently, one of the appointed seats has expired.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is requested the City Council approve the recommended reappointment.

A Resolution Reappointing John Duggan to the Aurora Police Pension Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, there is currently a seat available on the board; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidate be reappointed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the reappointment of John Duggan of Aurora, IL as member of the Aurora Police Pension Board.
NOW BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of John Duggan shall expire May 31, 2021, however, in any event, he shall continue to serve until his respective replacement has been approved by the Council.
