FROM: Wendy McCambridge, City Clerk

DATE: February 25, 2015

SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class G - Package Beer and Wine by one (1) license for each classification, increasing the total maximum number of Class G licenses to 15.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Carrerra, Inc., d/b/a Supermercado Carrerra, located at 710 Foran Lane, has re-submitted a revised liquor license application to now seek a Class G license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine in original packages only, for consumption off the premises. The applicant does not desire to pursue the Class C liquor license at this time. Only page two (2) of the application has been changed from the original submission.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution as referred from the City Council meeting on February 23, 2016 to the Government Operations Committee for consideration of a change in class at its meeting to be held on March 8, 2015 with referral by the Government Operations Committee to the Committee of the Whole mee...
