SUBJECT:
Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of One (1) 2018 Wheeled Coach Ford F-450 Type I Ambulance for the Amount of $245,058.00 from Fire Service Inc.

PURPOSE:
To purchase one (1) 2018 Wheeled Coach Ford F-450 Type I ambulance, from Fire Service Inc. to replace a 2012 ambulance that has reached the end of its service life as recommended by Equipment Services.

BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Fire Department routinely replaces vehicles that have exceeded their service life for a frontline vehicle as recommended by Equipment Services. Medic 10 which is a 2012 ambulance has met the criteria for replacement. Medic 10 will become a reserve ambulance and the department will trade in a 2010 (RM5) unit. Fire Services Inc. has evaluated RM5 and has agreed to accept it as a trade in vehicle for a credit of $ 7,100.00.

DISCUSSION:
Fire Service Inc. is the area dealer for the Wheeled Coach brand ambulance. The City of Aurora purchased a Wheeled Coach ambulance from Fire Service Inc. in April of 2017. The Fire Service contract with the City of Aurora contains language that allows the right to add additional units to that contract. The 2017 pricing included a significant discount because of a multiple unit purchase that this vehicle did not receive and a Ford chassis price increase of $2094.00.

We request the ability to exercise this right and purchase an additional ambulance based on that language. Funds are available in account 255-3033-422.75-30 for this purchase.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Maintaining a safe and dependable emergency response fleet, enhances the ability of the Aurora Fire Department to provide emergency medical services to the citizens of Aurora.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the finance Committee accept the tag on bid (paragraph 10) from Fire Service Inc. to purchase a 2018 Wheeled Coach, Ford F-450 Type I ambulance from them in the amount of $ 24...
