A Traffic Study for Colorado Avenue, in the vicinity of the 1200 block.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville.

PURPOSE:

A Traffic Study for Colorado Avenue, in the vicinity of the 1200 block, to determine current vehicle speeds and volume.

 

BACKGROUND:

A resident submitted PS # 2714065 expressing concerns for traffic speeds, for the 1200 block of Colorado Avenue. 

 

DISCUSSION:

The roadway is classified as a minor collector, with a speed limit of 25 mph.  Road width is the standard 29.5 feet.  The traffic study performed September 2017, revealed an ADT of 1,400 vpd, and an average speed of 31 mph.  

 

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Street Maintenance installing and maintaining speed limit signs, APD resources for speed enforcement. 

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  Staff recommends acceptance of the traffic study, installation of 25 mph speed limit signage in the 1200 block, and random, selective police enforcement.
