SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Ottawa Avenue during school dismissal, requesting taking steps to reduce traffic congestion.  Ward 4, Alderman Donnell
body
PURPOSE:
To search for possible ways to reduce traffic congestion on Ottawa Avenue during school dismissal.

BACKGROUND:
A resident called their Alderman to express concern for parking on Ottawa Avenue.  Traffic congestion occurs during school dismissal.

DISCUSSION:
Ottawa Avenue forms a "T" intersection with Iroquois Drive, with Ottawa ending at Iroquois.  The North-South Iroquois Drive has No-Parking-During-School-Hours on both sides.  Ottawa Avenue is free of any parking restriction signage. The street is host to drop-off and dismissal parking from two schools.  Recommend approval to be consistent to Parking restrictions within the area.  Namely, parking restrictions on the North side of Ottawa Avenue with No-Parking-During-School-Hours signage.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Funding will need to be provided to Operations to install the signs.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing NO PARKING DURING SCHOOL HOURS signage on the North side only on Ottawa Avenue.
