A Letter of Understanding Regarding the Joint Electrical Maintenance Bid with DuPage County.

DISCUSSION:
The City has been working with DuPage County on a joint electrical maintenance bid documents. This was done in order to combine our resources and demand in order to receive a more competitive bid for these services. This joint bid is modeled after the very successful joint salt bidding process of which the City of Aurora currently participates in.
The City's involvement in the joint maintenance bid is limited to traffic signals and corresponding appurtenances. The bid in question would begin services in December of 2015. The City currently has a signal maintenance contract for the 35 IDOT signals it maintains. This bid would be inclusive of all 118 traffic signals within the City of Aurora.
The bid documents and the letter of understanding are attached for your use. This does not award the bid and the actual award would come before Council for approval.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Finance Committee authorize the Public Works Director to issue the Letter of Understanding.
