A Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class
PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class E - Restaurant Licenses for a total maximum number of Class E as 47.
BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.
DISCUSSION:
Chan's Gourmet Inc, doing business as Lucky Panda, 2400 S. Eola Road, Aurora, 60503, had recently submitted an application for the purpose of selling beer and wine in conjunction with food service in June 2016 and would now like to expand the beverage selections to include alcoholic liquor. The restaurant is also creating a lounge area for adults and installing video gaming terminals in the space.
Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the Government Operations Committee for consideration on August 23, 2016.
