A Recommendation to Award a Not-to-Exceed Contract for the 2015 Downtown Sidewalk Removal & Replacement Project
Finance Committee Meeting April 14, 2015
PURPOSE:
To award a contract for the above referenced project.
BACKGROUND:
The Maintenance Services Division of the Operations Department has established a sidewalk replacement program for the downtown area. This work has been budgeted as an ongoing project to fix deteriorated sidewalks, drive approaches and other related items.
This project will establish contract unit prices for 6 repair items.
DISCUSSION:
Proposals were sent out to local contractors to solicit bids for this project.
Bids were publicly opened and read on March 18, 2015 where 2 bids were received.
Geneva Construction Company, P.O. Box 998, Aurora, IL 60507 submitted the lower bid in the amount of $49,550.00.
This project is included in the 2015 budget in the amount of $30,000 and will be charged to account # 231-4430-418.38-18.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This project will not have any negative impact to the City of Aurora and will enhance the safety and aesthetics of the downtown area.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
We recommend awarding a not-to-exceed contract to Geneva Construction Company in the amount of $30,000 using the unit prices shown on the bid and ask that you forward this recommendation to the Finance Committee for their review and recommendation.
