SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/Briarheath Drive, Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/Kingsley Lane. Ward 1, Alderman Bohman.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the intersections of Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/Briarheath Drive, Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/Kingsley Lane, to determine if a change in traffic control for the intersection is necessary.
BACKGROUND:
HOA contacted Alderman to have eastbound stop signs removed at both intersections. HOA feels traffic control signs are not needed due to low traffic volumes.
DISCUSSION:
Havenshire Road, Colchester Lane, Briarheath Drive and Kingsley Lane are classified as a residential roadways, 27 feet in width, with a 25 mph speed limit. Existing intersection traffic control is a single stop sign, for the eastbound approach, at both intersections. Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/Briarheath Drive is the traditional four leg intersection with pedestrian crosswalks on all four legs of the intersection. Havenshire Road and Colchester Lane/ Kingsley Lane is a four leg intersection with pedestrian crosswalks on all four legs of the intersection and a traffic circle in the middle of the intersection. Appears when subdivision was developed, the west side of these intersections received a stop sign but the east side never received any signage. There is no traffic control present for the Havenshire Road approaches.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends removing the existing eastbound stop signs and eastbound stop bars on Colchester Lane, for both intersections with Havenshire Road.
