Title: A Traffic Study for Hill Avenue, 400 Block. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns
Sponsors: Public Works
TO:      Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

DATE:       September 16, 2014

SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Hill Avenue, 400 Block.  Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the practicality of installing DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS signage for a business in the west side of the 400 block of Hill Avenue, just north of Fifth Avenue.

BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 99262 expressing concerns that their driveways were often blocked by southbound traffic waiting for the traffic signal at Hill Avenue and Fifth Avenue.

DISCUSSION:
This section of Roadway has many driveways, in some places more driveways than curbs.  Placing DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAY signage at each of the half-dozen driveways on the southbound approach to the signal would be impractical.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of the traffic study.
