2022 Ward 9 Block Party Assistance Program
PURPOSE:
To will support and encourage block parties held in Ward 9.
BACKGROUND:
This program was started in 2021 to encourage Block Parties and other public social events to be held in Ward 9.
DISCUSSION:
Reimbursements will be made from the Ward 9 grant account, 319-1350-419.50-50. The program will not extend past the current Alderman's term.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Approval of the program will encourage and support block parties throughout the ward in order promote and foster a sense of community among residents.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the Ward 9 Block Party Assistance Program.

A Resolution Approving the 2022 Ward 9 Block Party Assistance Program.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Ninth Ward Alderman seeks to encourage and support block parties in the Ninth Ward;
WHEREAS, the 2022 Ward 9 Block Grant Program serves a public benefit by encouraging and fostering a sense of community among residents; and
WHEREAS, a copy of the Ward 9 Grant Program is Attached as Exhibit A
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: the 2022 Ward 9 Block Party Assistance Program is hereby approved.
