Requesting approval to stage the City's annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Aurora on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 beginning at 10:15 am.

PURPOSE:
The Veterans Day Parade honors our current and past military with both a parade and ceremony.
BACKGROUND:
This event is hosted by the City of Aurora and the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council. Staging begins at 9:15 on Benton between Broadway and Stolp. Step off is at 10:15 at the corner of Benton and Broadway, the parade continues to Downer, turns west and ends at the G.A.R. After the parade a ceremony with a guest speaker, rifle salute and moment of silence is conducted in front of the Grand Army of the Republic Museum.
DISCUSSION:
The event is budgeted from account # 101-1341-450.53-10.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street closures: Benton from Stolp to Broadway from 9:00 am to 10:30 am; Broadway for the parade only, 10:15 to 10:25; Downer from Broadway to Stolp from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
City Services:
Electrical: Power at the outside G.A.R. outlets
Downtown Maintenance: Chairs, flags, podium, and table at G.A.R.
MVPS: Place "No Parking" signage along parade route on Monday, November 10th end of day, Q lot gates open
Streets: Place barricades as instructed on attached map and spreadsheet
APD and EMA: assist with street closures along with lead and end squads for parade
Central Services: Key for G.A.R. flagpole
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
