SUBJECT:
A Resolution Authorizing the Appointment of Ken Schroth as the Director of Public Works and City Engineer.

PURPOSE:
To obtain authorization to appoint Ken Schroth as the Director of Public Works and City Engineer.

BACKGROUND:
Ken Schroth has over 25 years of experience involving a variety of civil engineering disciplines and building construction. He has been with the City of Aurora since August 26, 2002 and was promoted to the position of Director of Public Works on February 14, 2006. Ken has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer and certified floodplain manager.

DISCUSSION:
A reorganization of departments and divisions is being proposed in order to improve efficiencies within the organization and customer service for the public. As a result and in accordance with the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances, the Director of Public Works as a department head and City Engineer as a city officer is appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the city council.
